From the Etsy Files...

Hi! As we continue our exploration into rockabilly and its subcultures, we take it to Etsy this week to see what we can find. I'm not entirely sure what to expect; when I'm on Etsy it's usually to find vintage resellers or specific vintage items. I don't go there too often for current things, so I wonder how much success I'll have. I don't have any worries with finding rockabilly items; my concern is finding sub items. I guess I'll just see how everything pans out. Off to Etsy!

Bats & Black Pearls Cat Eye Gothic Psychobilly Sun Glasses

Cat Eye Sun Glasses with Bats & Black Pearls Available with many different colour pearls or rhinestones on request. Size: 15cm (across at top) x 4.8cm at widest point (centre of frames). Emeraldangel Original Design Delivery - This item is made to order, normally despatched within 5 working days, but during very busy periods can take up to 10 days to be despatched.
I think this could fall into a couple of rockabilly's subcultures, gothabilly and psychobilly I believe, because those genres employ darker themes. I also included them because 1-if this isn't your first visit here, you know my obsession with cat eye sunglasses, and 2-they're just badass sunglasses. I like that you can customize these glasses with the rhinestone/pearl detail of your choosing when you place an order; I don't see that too much but admittedly, I also don't see too many offers for custom sunglasses. These are sweet shades, in my opinion. I want 'em in my life.

Monsters Pinup/ Punk/ Rockabella Halter Top Sz. S, M, L, XL

Monster Rockabilly/ Psychobilly Peplum Top. This lil top is made of this really cute horror / monsters print fabric. Its 100% cotton and inside is fully lined. It comes with adjustable straps and has a zipper at the back. You can wear it as a regular halter or crossed halter.
This top would be either horrorbilly, which mainly focuses on the love of horror in general, or psychobilly, which as I mentioned earlier, is known for anything darker, including horror films. I think it'd be super cute for Halloween parties, but if I was a bolder person I'd probably wear it whenever I felt like it rather than relegating it to a particular season. I guess I think that less people would look at me crazy for wearing the top if it was season-appropriate. But if I had to pick a crowd that this would be for, I'd go with horrorbilly.

Cupcake Dress Rockabilly Dress Birthday Dress Pin Up Dress 50s Retro Dress Psychobilly Goth Lolita Steampunk Swing Party Plus Size Clothing

Gorgeous Cupcake Dress Rockabilly Dress Birthday Dress Pin Up Dress 50s Retro Dress Psychobilly Goth Lolita Steampunk Swing Party Plus Size Clothing. Superb quality at an unbeatable price, this gorgeous fifties style dress is just perfect for parties, weddings and proms. Crafted from light cotton featuring a pretty print, making it versatile enough to style to your very own taste.
Even though this is a psychobilly-advertised dress, I'd put it as a mix between that and regular rockabilly. I like that this is a darker color alongside the cute cupcake print, and I like the two were combined in a swing dress rather than another type of structure. Cupcakes and cute details are used in rockabilly, but I've also seen it a bit with psychobilly and even in a few gothabilly dresses. For me, though, this is on the line of rock/psychobilly.

ON SALE!-Mens Rockabilly Lounge Style Shirt / Mens Rockabilly Shirt / Drive-in Shirt / Kitsch Shirt

Discounted-Was $55 Now $45 Black "Atomic Cafe" embroidered lounge style shirt. This one a perfect for the vintage lover, rockabilly guy or just anyone who appreciates atomic style from the 1950's. (This is the one and only I will have of this shirt, every other design will be a drive-in, not cafe.)These are 2the9s Retro Original designs from our 2/9 Kustoms Collection to be found only with us.
As I mentioned during the Pinterest Files last week, bowling shirts are a big part of rockabilly fashion for men. This particular one is a lounge-style shirt, but it's one of a kind, something I like about this shop. I like that there's an authenticity of vintage with the design, yet the designs are new. I've never really considered bowling and lounge shirts, especially for men, to be particularly fashionable but somehow the rockabilly fashion and its additions make it work. Now I want one. lol

Tattoo Art Vintage Inspired Dress / Rockabilly Pinup Dress

Beige Tattoo Art Dress Comfortable and definitely a looker, perfect for a summer day on the town or a show. This dress has amazing style .
This dress would be more psychobilly, but I included it because I really liked the vintage tattoo style that was used for the print. It's a bit more psychobilly than rockabilly to me because from what I have seen, rockabilly prints and designs are a bit more basic. Tattoos themselves are an 'alternative' detail, so I'd figure a dress with tattoo print or detailing would be classified as an 'alt' of rockabilly. How would you classify this?

Ouija Board Ring NEW Occult Witchboard Punk Psychobilly Filagree Victorian Goth

Victorian "The Ouija" Silver-Tone Ouija Board Ring~ This is a silver-tone colored ouija board ring. The ouija board measures about 3/4 inches by 1/4 inches. The ring base is silver-tone filigree and quite ornate. The ring is unisex and adjustable-making it an excellent present.
This ring, for me, is more gothabilly than anything else. I suppose it could be a horrorbilly accessory but it seems more goth to me, mainly because I find ouija boards pretty morbid. Cool, but morbid. lol Things related to death and the supernatural are a big thing for gothabilly followers so for me, I would consider this to be more gothabilly rather than psycho/horrorbilly. But classifications aside, this is a pretty badass ring. As I'm sure I've mentioned, I really like unique accessories that may look kitschy to those with a more streamlined or simple style. I'm not personally into ouija boards; I'm a bit too superstitious (and scared LOL) to deal with them, but I love the look of them.

The Cramps Stay Sick Shirt Vintage 1990 tour tshirt Psychobilly tee Rare

Original Vintage 1990 The Cramps Stay Sick Shirt Tag Size: Extra Large Material: 100% Cotton Pit to Pit: 20.5 inches Collar to Hem: 31 inches This shirt is in excellent condition, no holes or stains
The Cramps are largely the inspiration behind the creation of psychobilly, something I'll touch more on during this month's Spotlight. Since more of the focus for this post is on the subcultures that rockabilly has created, I figured a shirt from one of the sources integral to the creation of one of those things would be relevant.

Gothic Choker Necklace, gothic jewelry, rockabilly jewelry, goth jewelry, steampunk, halloween, cosplay, fantasy, psychobilly, goth necklace

This beautiful lace choker necklace has a black obsidian drop, gothic skeleton pendant, gold Czech glass beads, metal chain, black czech glass beads and rhinestone accents. 12" long can be adjusted to 17". Lobster clasp.
This necklace is firmly a gothabilly product in my opinion. The macabre, death-inspired and vintage style of gothabilly seem to have combined in this gothic obsidian choker with a skeleton detail. This reminds me a bit of a Victorian-era choker with the way that its designed. This might be a custom design, but I'm not entirely sure. Either way, gothabilly seems to be about a vintage take on goth and its themes, so this necklace is fitting for the fashion.

Halloween Rockabilly Western Cowboy Snap Button Skull Roses Shirt Psychobilly Rock N Roll Hot Rod Muscle Cars

Product Description LA ROCKA Shirts are soft and durable, made of 100% premium quality cotton Snap Button Casual Shirt are soft and durable, made of 100% premium quality cotton Measurement ASIA SIZEModel chest size: 38 inches wearing size Medium Size : M Length from shoulder to waist is 24 inches Width from armpit to armpit is 20 inches.
This is another rockabilly shirt for men, this one a mix of Western and print, another important element of male rockabilly fashion. When I first saw that Western/cowboy print was a part of men's rockabilly, I was a bit surprised until I remembered that rockabilly is about more than just fashion. Country is also a part of rockabilly music, so that's probably where some of the fashion inspiration comes from as well. The rockabilly spin on Western-inspired fashion would present itself in the detailing on the shoulders, which I like. It's a bit more subtle of a nod to rockabilly's musical roots. At least that's my take on it. This particular shirt, because of the print, would be for a more psychobilly-friendly dude, but the Western-inspired fashion in general has its roots in rockabilly.
Originally, my intention here was to break down the elements of the subcultures in a similar way to how I did it for the Pinterest Files last week, but it ended up being more of a regular Files post instead. Because the subculture fashions are a bit harder for a beginner like me to find, I figured I'd feature these now and break down the elements of each type of "billy" during our Spotlight. As always, I hope you enjoyed this post and I'll see you soon!

From the Pinterest Files...

Hi! This week I wanted to go through some individual elements of rockabilly fashion for both women and men, so I had to do some research to find out what those elements were. I was surprised to discover that I actually feature rockabilly-style fashion on here quite often, but classified it under pinup fashion instead. The two are quite similar, I've found, but after doing some research on the different types of vintage fashion I've also found that I'm a bit too thickheaded to understand the more subtle differences between them all. I decided to make this week's Pinterest Files a piece-by-piece breakdown of rockabilly fashion for both men and women. Enjoy!
The funny part about this Pin is that even though the descriptors are correct, this photo is actually from a site mocking various styles, including rockabilly. So some elements that are mentioned are highlighted for comedic purposes to highlight the style's stereotypes. With the rockabilly photo, those stereotypes would be the 'caked on makeup' and tattoos. Moving on, despite the fact that the photo was made to mock the style, the other descriptors are pretty accurate. This is an overall view of the rockabilly style. I see a lot of greaser fashion in rockabilly wear for males, and the females are this really cool mash-up of greaser, pinup and vintage. Alternatives of the rockabilly style are a bit darker and integrate more of a rock feel into the clothing.
This would be a modern look at a 'rockabilly couple' as well as a visual on the combination of pinup and greaser in rockabilly fashion for women that I mentioned above. This is another take on rockabilly fashion, with this particular photo being more of a Rosie the Riveter/greaser mix.

Worn-in leather boots are a big part of greaser/rockabilly fashion for males, but women can wear them as well. I chose this pair because even though they're not as beat up as many of the pairs I saw in photos, they have the look that I was going for. I've seen more black boots than brown, but these have that slightly worn but freshly shined look to them that, along with the smaller cuffed pant leg, put a modern spin on the trend. These boots are more beat-up than the brown ones in this photo and they're black, so those would probably be a bit more accurate.

A scarf/bandana is a common part of rockabilly fashion for women, and this Pin shows various ways that it can be styled. I'm more partial to hair flowers myself, but that's partially because unless I'm trying to cover my entire head with the bandana, I can't style one properly on myself to save my life.

I don't know that this is necessarily rockabilly, but when I saw this Pin of various specs I had to slip it in here somewhere. I've had the typical 'sophistinerd' (a word I came up with to combine 'sophisticated' and 'nerd' LOL) small, rectangular glasses for yeeears and I'm really jonesing for something new. I keep coming across specs like these and I love them. I don't know if they'd be a good fit for my face, but I'd really like to try a pair out. I was going to point out a favorite then realized I love all 5 pairs. I want 'em!

This is a diagram of typical greaser/rockabilly hairstyles for men, although I typically see more pompadour and slicked back styles than any of the others in the photo. Whenever I think of the greased-up hairstyles though, this always comes to mind. LOL Personally, I'm more partial to pompadours and, dare I say it, hipster hairstyles for dudes. They really gel (see what I did there) with the rockabilly style for me, but in a way, hipster fashion is a more modern take on different elements of rockabilly for me. Please don't throw tomatoes at me.

This pin combines two facets of rockabilly fashion for women. Wiggle dresses for me are more pinup than rockabilly, but rockabilly and its alternatives (which we'll be discussing in the next couple of weeks) have helped popularize them as well. Rockabilly prints more commonly include birds, atomic prints, bows and cherries. Cherries are another element that pinup and rockabilly clothing share, and I really like that this dress was a classy combination of both of those things.

This is another photo I chose because it combines two elements of rockabilly fashion for both men and women. The main reason why I chose the photo was because of the cuffed jeans. I usually saw men wearing the jeans with the cuffed hem, but I've been seeing more photos of women wearing them as well which I liked. I'm not entirely sure if its intentional or not, but I've seen dark denim being worn more often than lighter washes of denim in rockabilly fashion. I've also been seeing photos of the cuffed jeans and biker jackets with Converses rather than boots, and I think if I were to wear this outfit, I'd go with the Converses as well. Biker jackets are another element of rockabilly/greaser fashion that I typically see on men but I'm starting to find more photos with women wearing them as well. As with the boots, the biker/motorcycle jackets typically have a 'worn' look to them.

Victory rolls are another part of rockabilly fashion that blend into other retro styles. A rockabilly take on victory rolls might include a bandana but quite often, it involves a badass cat-eye and a cherry red lip. I'm in love with victory rolls regardless, but I love the fun variations on the style that I see on alternative pinups and rockabilly models. I like that this pin is a simple walkthrough with a few tips at the end on how to really nail the style.

The last major detail that I wanted to cover was the style of shirt that many greasers/rockabilly men like to wear. While I was looking for photos of what I wanted, I'd initially found this one but kept looking to see if I could find something I liked more. I kept coming back to this one so it would appear that Pinterest made up my mind for me. LOL Even though the guys in this photo are wearing button-downs, the sleeves are rolled up. If they were just wearing white t's, another rockabilly trend, those sleeves would be rolled up as well. Again, this is another element that I see on women as well, but from what I've seen it appears to be a signature greaser/rockabilly fashion element for men.

This week's post, unlike last week's eBay Files (which went up suuuper late and I am so sorry! If I told you everything that was going on in my life right now, including the reason why this post is late, I promise you wouldn't believe me) post was a lot of fun to do. Turns out, I didn't need to do quite as much research as I thought but it was still helpful to have a better understanding of the individual elements that comprise rockabilly fashion. To me, vintage encompasses all of the elements I enjoy, from pinup to rockabilly, time-accurate to a modern/retro mix, so I don't usually bother with trying to differentiate too much. Despite that, it was still so much fun to find out individual parts of the overall style and I can't wait to jump into the alternatives next week. As always, I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you soon!

From the eBay Files...

Hi! This month I wanted to explore a bit of the vintage subculture that I have never really given any attention to but always wanted to do, and that was the rockabilly movement. Pinups and rockabilly were my first bit of exposure to vintage, and I didn't fully understand what they were but I wanted to learn more about them. This month we'll be exploring the pinup/rockabilly sector and its alternatives, as the theme for this month is "Alternative Pinup." So for our eBay File this month, I wanted to try and find some alternative fashion and books that explore these facets of the subculture. Let's get started!

Hell Bunny Black Widow Pin-up Dress, $29.99

I want to say I came across this dress back in October when I was looking for Halloween-themed fashion. I don't know that I'd wear this any other time of the year, but I still think its cute and a good representative of alternative pinup fashion. This particular dress is adorned with a black widow and cobweb print, and I like that it's a smaller print rather than one with big ass spiders everywhere. lol

The Cramps Greatest Hits, $18

Voodoo Vixen Floral Wiggle Dress, $34.99

I love this dress, but don't know that I'd ever have the confidence to wear it and do it justice. This is a beautiful floral halter top wiggle dress and I really dig the solid print on the chest. It breaks up the floral print a little bit and draws the eye to the chest (a great decision if you've got boulders to show instead of pebbles like yours truly here LOL). This is a dress that I struggled with classifying as specifically rockabilly but ultimately decided to include. For those of you familiar with alternative pinup clothing, how would you classify this dress?

The Razorbacks,
"More Love Less Attitude" LP (1986), $8

Hell Bunny Tattoo Skulls Dress, $39.99
Now this dress I'd wear any time of the year. It manages to be vintage, badass and unique all at the same time. As with most vintage dresses I like, I appreciate that the print has blocks of single color dispersed throughout. I can't tell if this would be a high or low V-neck, but I still like it. This would look so pretty with a petticoat underneath. Probably not a full one, but one that gives the bottom half the twirly circle skirt effect that I love so much.

Get Hot or Go Home RCA Vintage Rockabilly Hits from '56-'59, $18

Voodoo Vixen Cat-Print Green Swing Dress, $72.38

When I first saw this dress, it wasn't the print that caught my eye. It was a combination of the shade of green, the black scalloped accents and the style of the dress. I didn't even realize it had cats on it until I zoomed in. lol For me, this dress toes the line of alternative mainly because many repro companies make dresses similar to this and don't classify it as anything except vintage-inspired.

Rock On With Shakin Stevens & The Sunsets,
"A Legend" LP (1970), $12

Hell Bunny Dixie Pink Swing Dress, $26.15

Of the dresses I found this week, this one is undoubtedly my favorite. I like the combination of the polka dot neck and hemlines as well as the black bow around the waist. Again, it breaks up the pattern and gives the dress a little more personality. I also like that the pinup is on the straps rather than it being a solid color; it's a small detail but I still appreciate it. I've seen quite a few colorful/quirky prints used for vintage dresses before, but this one for me is completely alternative. It's a bit more bouncy and youthful in the print design than many of the other vintage skirts I go for.

Lorrie and Larry Collins, "The Lonesome Road"

This particular Files was extremely challenging for me to finish because my knowledge of anything rockabilly is miniscule, which believe it or not is still an understatement. lol I had to research just to figure out what to include in the post and I'm still not 100% confident I chose all accurate items. The music was especially difficult for me, which is why there aren't any captions underneath them. The thing I noticed while doing the fashion half of this post is that there isn't a terribly large difference between basic rockabilly and vintage fashion, at least not for me. There is a distinct difference between the two, but I think my personal style already includes fashion that could be categorized under rockabilly.

I apologize that this entry is going up late again (it's very early on Monday morning) but the insanity going on in my personal life has been taken up a notch, which yet again messed with both my desire (and time) to blog. Here's hoping that things finally settle down; punctuality has always been a problem of mine but this is getting ridiculous. I hope you can forgive me. I'm trying to get things back on track for next week. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and I'll see you soon!

Extra File!

Hi! I apologize that this is going up so late (the timestamp says Wednesday but I'm posting it on Sunday) but my uncle moved out of town this week and it disrupted some things in the family unit so I didn't have the motivation to post for a few days. But I'm back, so let's get to our Extra File for this month! I haven't come up with a header image for our Extra File so I apologize that it's been so plain, but it'll be fixed in time for the next one. Usually I'll do 8-10 images for regular Files posts, but Extra Files might have a little more because it's a random collection of vintage things that I've found throughout the month. I'll try not to make them terribly long, but I still hope you enjoy them. This particular edition is mainly on board with April's spring theme, but there are a few randoms tossed in there. Anyway, enough rambling. Let's get to the File!

Harlequin Estelle Blouse, $58
I wanted to start this post off with something fun and colorful, which brings me to this harlequin blouse. I like the different colors, which are a bit different from a similarly-printed skirt I'm going to include in a few, and I like the fitted design. I also like the colored belt instead of a white or black one and surprisingly for me, I like the structured shoulders rather than the fitted shoulders on modern tops.

Aqua Lauren Doilie Dress, $100
I've really been into mints, aquas and oranges this spring, which brings me to this dress. The printing on it isn't too heavy and it's a bit different from other floral dresses, and I like the neckline. I don't usually wear necklaces with dresses that have this neckline, but I really like how the necklace looks with this dress. It's light-colored, the material doesn't seem super heavy, and I wouldn't need to wear a petticoat underneath the dress so it's lighter maintenance than many of the other vintage dresses I gravitate to.

Dark Romance Sunglasses, $7
This wouldn't be a post about things I like without a pair of cat-eyes. This particular pair has silver rose detailing in the corners (I actually thought it was gold until I read the product description) and that's initially what drew me to them. They're simple, the lenses are dark and I love the floral detailing.

Priscilla Dress in Lemon Yellow Gingham, 125 pounds
I love this dress because it's a yellow gingham print rather than the red or blue gingham printed items I usually see. It still reminds me of a picnic, and I really like that this is more of a flouncy dress rather than a fitted one. I would prefer the petticoat underneath as this would probably look shapeless without it. A smaller detail that I like are the lines down the front. Rather than the lining creating an unflattering shape (I usually see it in a square, which makes larger frames look wider and short torsos look boxy), they curve at the chest and go down in an angle to the waist. I think it helps create a curvier, more flattering silhouette for different body types.

Pink Cherry Bella Cardigan, 40 pounds
Usually when I'm looking at vintage-themed clothes I look at dresses, skirts or shoes. I don't find too many pieces of outerwear (that aren't ponchos or capes lol) that I like, but I thought this reproduction cherry cardigan was too cute to pass up. I like the frilly accents on the collar, arms and down the torso; they help the cardigan avoid looking one-dimensional and I like that. I also kinda like that the cherry detailing is limited to the chest rather than being an all-over print. For gals with bigger chests though, the downward pull might have the cherries right over the boobs. lol

One of the things that I was looking up this month was vintage advertising, then I stumbled across this little gem and I laughed for way too long about it. This is a retro ad for prophylaxis, a medicine used to treat VD, but the wording is a hilarious mix of slut shaming and bareback sex shaming. Ads like this always kill me because of the level of contradiction and double standards that they encourage. I could get on my soapbox about it, but there's no need. I just wanted to share this image because I thought it was hilarious.

Ascot Dress in China Rose Blue Print, 135 pounds
I had to have a quintessential vintage dress in this post somewhere because the light blue coloring makes me think of spring, as do the silhouette and loose, flowy skirt. What I really liked about this was the bow detailing on the shoulders. I've seen the straps that tie at the shoulders, but I've never seen detailing like this on a dress before. That's probably not a good indicator of my experience with vintage clothes as there's still so much I don't know, but I thought that was a unique and really cute accent.

Capri Pants in Lavender, $82
I want to say that I've posted this exact image on here before, probably during a Fashion Inspiration post (which I haven't done in quite some time, should I do one soon?) but I'm posting it again. I love these lavender capris. I thought the color was spring-appropriate, and I love the way they've been styled in this photo. I love the white top that the capris were paired with, and I really like the black detailing rather than a lighter color.

Jenny Skirt in 1950s Harlequin Print, $98
I actually saw this skirt before I saw the harlequin top I started the post out with. I thought this skirt was so beautiful I had to include it. I love how full it is, and I love that it's a circle skirt rather than a pencil or mod-style skirt. I've been seeing a bunch of photos from various vintage festivals and outdoor events; this would have been a bright, eye-catching skirt to wear. Harlequin print for some reason also reminds me of the retro atomic design, probably because of the geometric shapes and the varying colors.

Emmie Oxford Flats in Red, $56
I've been digging oxford flats for awhile now, but I usually prefer the simple black and white ones. These are a bit out of my comfort zone but that's why I picked them. These are eye-catching but in a more subtle manner than head-to-toe print, they look better with a lot of vintage skirts than modern-day flats or shoes, and I really love this combination of red and beige.

Jenny Skirt in Orange Branch Border Print, $98
I don't think I've ever featured a skirt like this one before, but I was drawn to the bright orange print and the strip of orange on the hem. I've really been liking louder clothing lately, but I'm still a little surprised that I like this one as much as I do. Now would I ever have the confidence to wear it? The jury's still out on that. But I love it. Rather than a floral, geometric or even cherry print, this one is orange-printed, something I don't see a lot. What color top would you wear with this skirt?

So those are some of the extra vintage-themed items I found throughout the month of April. I didn't want to include them all because then we'd be here all day, so I just focused on my favorites. Many of these are from sites that I found recently, so another reason why I like the Extra Files is because I get to feature and talk about newer repro brands, which I don't get to do a lot. PUG Clothing, which I featured in this post, isn't new to me, but Cats Like Us and Deadly is the Female (the other two companies in this post) are, so I wanted to show off some of their goodies. But again, I've rambled too much so I'm taking my leave now. As always, I hope you enjoyed this post and I'll see you soon!

From the Etsy Files...

Hi! This week we're still focusing on spring a bit, but whereas the other entries were focusing on one specific section of spring, this one might encompass a few different areas. The second week of Coachella kicks off this weekend, and since I view that as the closest thing to Woodstock we'll ever get, I like looking at the various interpretations of boho chic in the festival photos. So in addition to the items I find for spring, there'll probably be a few festival-friendly items in here too.

Vintage Hippie Dress Vintage Hippy Dress Vintage Boho Dress White Dress Vintage 70s Floral Maxi Dress S M Festival Dress Halter Dress

The item: Vintage seventies FLORAL HALTER MAXI DRESS. Smocked bodice. Zips up back. Accessories are not included. We just love, love, love this dress & we know that you will too! ***Please note: Our model is 5'9 & normally wears a 3 in jeans or a size 2 dress.

Mild spring weather will soon be giving way to hotter than Satan's taint Texas summer weather, so light-colored dresses in a lighter, more flowy material like this one would suit me nicely. I love how the bodice is different from the bottom half of the dress; the two styles contrast well and help break up the print. For a festival or outdoor event, this would be a good choice although I don't co-sign those heels. They're super cute, but you already know I'm not about that heeled life. lol

Vintage 80's Oversized Sunglasses - Designer Sunglasses - Black Brown Frame - Guy Laroche - Boho Festival Sunglasses - Authentic Dead Stock

Rare Authentic 80's Vintage Guy Laroche Sunglasses Label ♥︎ Guy LarocheEra ♥︎ 1980's Model No ♥︎ 5206Frame Colour ♥︎ Brown, Black, Gold Lenses ♥︎ Black Gradient Condition ♥︎ Fabulous Vintage Condition Dead Stock Minimal to No Scratches On Lenses.

Another Files, another picture of sunglasses. These are an '80s model, but I love the tortoiseshell cat-eye detailing across the top. I also like the gold triangular accents on the sides and at the top of the nose bridge. I will never be here for a $95 pair of sunglasses, no matter how cute they are, but I love them regardless.

1950s quilted print novelty vintage skirt / vintage 50s full skirt

Vintage 1950s quilted cotton sweep full skirt, rare red lion novelty print thoughout, high waist fit, side metal zipper for closure. ✂------m e a s u r e m e n t s------- best fit: xxs waist: 23"hips: open fit total length: 27" material: cotton condition: excellent. . . .

This skirt is sold in one of my favorite vintage shops on Etsy, Simplicity is Bliss. They were featured in one of the installments of the Instagram series and I've been stalking their IG feed ever since. lol This is a full, quilted skirt and even though the detailing looks orange to me, the listing says that the print is actually red. I like the side zipper as well as the high-waist, but this would be one of those skirts that I'd probably struggle to eat in if the waistband is structured rather than stretchy. I can't see myself being comfortable with pushing my food up to my sternum just because I felt like looking cute for a day.

Levis 501 Shorts Levi High Waisted Denim Shorts Levis Shorts Vintage Levi High Waisted Jean Shorts High Waist Shorts Denim Cutoffs waist 29

Levi 501 high waisted Indigo denim cutoff exposed pocket vintage shorts. These denim cutoffs feature, Levi logo button fly, classic 5 pocket

This entry probably doesn't look like much and I suppose it isn't; it's just a pair of high-waisted Levi cutoffs. I like that instead of the zipper and button closures, this one just has button closures. These are a bit different from the more grunge, ripped cutoffs that are back in fashion today (which I have a few pairs of and adore to pieces lol), which is why I like them. I remember when wearing jean cutoff shorts didn't mean you were chic, it meant you were poor and those shorts were, at one time, jeans. LOL At least that's how it was in my neck of the woods when I was a kid.

Adorable Little Bunny Earrings Swing into Spring Easter Fun Whimsical Plastic Dangling Bunnies on Swings French Wire Pierced Earrings

These earrings are so incredibly cute. Whether you're ready to swing into spring or want a fun Easter Bunny statement, these two bunnies swinging are fun, whimsical, and unique. Made of a molded plastic, the swings are a pastel yellow, with plump little white bunnies. They hang from French wires and are for pierced ears.

I know Easter's over, but these little bunny earrings were too cute to pass up. In addition to the corny holiday-themed headbands and too-large fascinators that I hold dear, I also love kitschy earrings and jewelry (but mainly earrings). These cute bunnies on swings would have been perfect with a few of the dresses I featured in this month's eBay and Pinterest Files.

Vintage 1950's 50s Coral Pink Purple Watercolor Impressionist Floral Print Chiffon Organza Circle Skirt Prom Party Wedding Dress

Description An absolutely lovely 1950's party dress in an exquisite floral print chiffon organza. An eye catching blend of watercolour shades - coral, fuschia, lilac, eggplant, olive green and cream. The style typifies the 50's - oh so feminine and figure flattering - perfect to accentuate a narrow waist.

You need to click on this listing to get the full idea of what it looks like. I think it's beautiful. This would be such a nice dress to wear to an outdoor festival or for a vintage-themed photoshoot in a park. I'd love to see how the skirt would look spread out over the grass. I also like the watercolor type of design in the dress; rather than the regular floral print this looks a bit softer and I like how it all comes together.

40s 1940s repro vintage women's sewing pattern crop top playsuit shorts beach romper bust 32 b32 reproduction English and French

Due to the popular feedback on some of the vintage patterns in our shop, we wanted to make the rare and particularly unique patterns accessible to more home sewers at a reasonable price. A great deal of love and care was invested in digitizing this pattern using professional, industry grade pattern-making software and printed on high quality 36" wide white paper.
I feel about these playsuit patterns the same way I feel about my dreams of baking bread. I often talk about how much I'd like to complete these things and I'd love to show off my skills someday, but I have yet to do either one. I don't ever see playsuits or jumpsuits where I live, and if I was able to make my own and wear it out somewhere it'd be superb. I'm more partial to the white and striped suits; what about you?

Vintage 30s Wedding Dress - Embroidered Net Lace - Nouveau Cannabis Embroidery

We are pleased to offer you this awesome non-traditional wedding dress or "high" society party dress from the late 1930's. FABRIC:This is made of a peachy-pink sheer cotton tulle net with exquisite Art Nouveau embroidery in the shape of cannabis leaves and scrolling vines.
And finally, with it being 4/20 today I had to end this on a cannabis-related note. It's also a throwback; I featured this during ATV's second Etsy Files a few years ago and I never fully got it out of my mind. I'm not a pot smoker myself, but how could I pass up the opportunity to end the post with this dress? I said it then and I'll say it again--that mannequin is giving mad body here, right?
That's all I've got this week. Next week will be an Extra File, where I pull together the random vintage things I've come across on the 'Net this month. There have been a ton of things I've been waiting to show, so hopefully I'll be able to get it together and not make the Extra File the length of a Spotlight post (which I haven't forgotten about, it's coming). In case I didn't encourage you enough on Monday, join me for tomorrow's TNT; Some Like it Hot is hilarious and I'd rather not watch it alone. See you soon!

From the Pinterest Files...

Hi! As I mentioned during the eBay Files last week, I wanted to focus on a few recipes and food-related items that made me think of spring. It's no secret around here that I think spring is picnic season, I talked about it for months last year. I'm probably going to do it again this year. lol For me, spring is a beautiful time of year. Because of my immune system, I don't go outside too often once fall is over and flu season hits. I usually stay inside until it's warm enough again, and by then it's been months that I've had to hole up in the house. I do leave the house, but it's nowhere near as often as I do during the warmer months because I catch colds and chest infections so easily. So watching the atmosphere come alive again and being able to feel the sun without having to wear several layers of clothes and a scarf over my face sounds like a dream.

Picnics combine several of my favorite things-being outdoors, enjoying the grass & sun, getting some alone time and food (both cooking and consuming lol). So I'm sorry ahead of time if you get tired of me talking about picnics. haha Let's get to what I found this week!

One of the reasons why I love looking at vintage spring recipe sheets is for the cute little captions and accompanying paragraph. It's all so festive and I appreciate the effort to sell the product being promoted in the recipe. This type of advertising was way before my time but I still miss it lol; I think it'd be great if a current company brought something like this back for a retro promotion campaign. Now I'd probably do 1/4c butter and 1/4c shortening rather than the original recipe, but this still looks like an easy cake recipe for spring.

I usually find myself gravitating toward more complicated recipes for spring, but I included this one because it's a great reminder for me that keeping it simple is delicious too. I love a good sandwich, always have, and rather than bringing a basket full of food that took hours to make, there's nothing wrong with packing up a basket full of basic sandwiches. The soda is optional, of course, but a ham and cheese sandwich with a Dr. Pepper sounds like a great lunch for me.

I think this table is so adorable. What I like the most about it is how easy it looks to DIY if you have the time and money for materials. I also think this would be really cute to have in the yard for summer. If there was a way to make something like this collapsible, I’d lug this with me to the park for a family picnic.

Lemonade, for me, is one of the staple drinks of warmer months and one of my all-time favorite beverages. I wasn’t sure how many different ways you could make lemonade because it sounds quite simple lol, but I liked this recipe the most. In addition to it being an older recipe, it also utilizes the lemon rinds and I don’t think I’ve had lemonade like that before. Lemonade is tart anyway, so I wonder about what adding the flavor of the rinds would do to the final result. I’m here for it.

My ultimate spring bucket list recipe is a loaf of homemade bread. I am determined to make some, whether it be for a sandwich like above, or just to eat with some jam. I say it every spring, I dream about it every time I think about what I’d like to try my hand at next, but I never end up doing it. This year I’m finally going to make that bread, and I like this recipe because unlike many bread recipes today, this one is completely from scratch. Most bread recipes that I look up today involve a bread machine, which I don’t own, so I’ve found that if I want to bake something it’s much easier to use an older recipe for it and alter it if necessary.

I chose this basket because I loved the finish of the wood on it. I know it’s probably going to sound weird, but does anyone remember the wood finish of the old stationwagons back in the ‘70s and ‘80s? We used to have a used one when I was younger, and the finish on the car was very similar to the wood used for this picnic basket. Many baskets look rather plain, so learning how to improve the inside or hide interior signs of age/damage has been something I wanted to do for awhile. This tutorial isn’t very difficult either, especially if you know how to sew well. That isn’t one of my strengths, but that’s one reason why I’d like to improve my sewing, so that tutorials like this would be easier for me to execute.

I used to think scones were a fancy schmancy treat for one to have, but now it’s another thing I’d like to learn to make. This, like the bread and cake recipes above, seems fairly easy to make and I also really enjoy the different variations on the basic recipe. I don’t know about eating celery scones, but I applaud the adventurousness. LOL This is another good recipe for the season that you can eat outdoors and I can’t wait until I finally get around to making some of my own.

And finally, I wanted to include this cookbook that focuses on picnic and potluck recipes. I don’t attend many potlucks, but I’m always interested in picnic recipes. That's another reason why I focus on picnic food every year; it's increasingly difficult for me to find retro recipes that would be good for picnics and outdoor events. It is, however, becoming increasingly easy to find retro recipes that sound absolutely awful. lol I'm trying to find more recipes that would be good for picnics and aren't always cakes or pastries. This book is from the early '90s, so the recipes are a bit more current and the chances I'll end up with fish Jell-o are much lower. Hopefully. ha

That wraps things up for me on Pinterest this week. Per usual, I hope you enjoyed this post. Are there certain foods you gravitate to for spring, seasonal activities that you enjoy during this time of year?OAN, please come keep me company tomorrow for our TNT; I have no idea if I'm going to be able to finish this movie. lol I hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday and I'll see you soon!
