I started All Things Vintage in 2010 originally under the name of Classic Reviews for Classic Movies, with the goal being to provide reviews on older movies with the hopes that I could get people interested in what they had to offer. I wanted to share my love of classic movies, both black-and-whites and color, silents and talkies, with the world and hopefully find others with the same hobby. I eventually realized that keeping the blog narrowed down to movies was significantly confining what I could blog about, so I then changed the name to All Things Vintage, so that I could talk about my love for--you guessed it--all things vintage.
I do so much searching and research on different time periods that I thought instead of just discussing movies, why not also discuss what I actually spend more time researching, the time period the movie was created in? In this day and age where hardly anything is original and most things are based off of movies or songs made during an older time anyway, why waste time discussing the remakes when I can discuss the originals instead? It seemed like tons more fun to do and a lot more challenging for me. And that was how ATV was born in January 2013.
All Things Vintage is my retro baby. The days of yesteryear are often where I go for inspiration, to daydream, and to writhe with envy for not being born early enough. I'm fully convinced that in some way shape or form, I was present during all of those times--although with my luck, I was probably a beetle or praying mantis or something LOL--and I am equally convinced that there is a woman, dressed to the nines in '40s or '50s garb, with a pie in the windowsill, dying to get out. Unfortunately, because I am lacking both the income to dress how I truly desire and the equipment to make the garments myself, for now she lays in wait, living vicariously through this blog. I want to use it as my channel into another time, whether it be the 70s, 30s, 40s or 80s. Fashion, furniture, prominent figures during that time, I intend to cover it all and share my love for retro and vintage things with you, if you're willing to take a trip into the past with me. I haven't forgotten my initial concept of the site and will still cover classic movies in a weekly feature that I call Thursday Night Theatre, or TNT. I want ATV to be a blast from any past you want to explore, to give you a good idea on all levels of what that time period was about. Please join me!
