Daily Cinema: Going Home (1971)
Going Home stars Robert Mitchum as a man named Harry, who in a drunken stupor 15 years prior, murdered his wife in front of their son, Jimmy. Jimmy's testimony puts Harry away and when he is released as a sober, free man, he tries to find Jimmy, who is now an adult, in an effort to reconnect with him. Jimmy, however, isn't trying to hear any of it.
There are elements of this film that pull at me, which is why I chose it despite its insanely late/early air time. I don't expect many people to watch the films I feature that air around this time in the schedule, hell I might not even be awake (this has been a very rare time in which I've been sleeping at night and I'd like to enjoy it while it lasts) but I'm going to DVR it and watch it later. If you're going to be online during today's lineup and want to join in the larger conversation with other folks watching today's films, tag your entries with #MitchumTCM or #SUTS. If you end up watching Going Home at some point, tag your tweets with #atvdailycinema so I can see them. See you tomorrow!
