Summer Under The Stars Day 2: Doris Day

The second day of Summer Under the Stars belongs to Miss Doris Day.
I've never seen a Doris Day film, so I don't have too much to say today. I've heard a lot more about her but never really got around to reading up on her like I did other stars until I was putting together this post. I didn't know she had such a long music career; reading about that was very surprising. I think she's released an album as recently as a couple of years ago as a matter of fact. She's retired from show business, but she still does music. It's amazing how much longevity some classic film stars can still have in today's industry yet modern artists have a hard time maintaining relevance. My hat's off to Miss Day for that; she's been in some form of entertainment since 1938 and that's quite a feat. Today is going to be a day of musicals and comedies; the majority of today's films fall into those categories. I'm not a big musical person, but these sound rather interesting. There's a couple of them that sound like they're going to be hilarious actually, so I'm looking forward to watching.

Daily Cinema Selection: It Happened to Jane
I chose this movie because it was different from the musicals that are airing today, and because it has the late great Jack Lemmon starring alongside Doris Day. Ernie Kovacs plays the part of the antagonist in this comedy about a small-town businesswoman taking on a railroad king in court. Lemmon plays Day's lawyer in her case against Kovacs. Sounds like it's going to be hilarious and in a feature with Doris Day yesterday morning, she said she had a great time working with Jack Lemmon and that it often comes out on camera, so I'm interested to see it.
