Some of the featured stars for this year's promotion |
In previous years Faye Dunaway, Warren Beatty, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, Tony Curtis and Cary Grant have all had their day in the sun during the Summer in the Stars, but unfortunately none of them were selected this year. However, we have other selections that were just as great and many that I have never seen before, so the excitement is growing already. Just to list a few, Humphrey Bogart, Joan Fontaine, Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Day, Maggie Smith and Natalie Wood have their turn in the spotlight this year and I can't wait. I know Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood have been featured within the past few years, but I'm not complaining at all.
This is the first time I've done anything like this on the site so I'm still working out the kinks but here's how it will go. Every day I'll post about the featured star for that day, I'm not too good with bios but I guess I could include my thoughts on them, followed by a list of the movies playing for the day. In addition to those movies, I'll talk about the Daily Cinema selection and include the trailer and links for that. I'll also include my regular links to the other movies as well in case you want to catch one of them but don't have a DVR or the time to watch it right then.
I have finally created a Twitter for the blog so we'll be able to live tweet as we watch! We will still be doing our regular TNT's on Thursdays, so we'll just consider the Daily Cinema as an added bonus. I personally can't wait; TCM is starting us off on a really strong note (which you'll see in our TNT Preview posting later today) so make sure you join us for the 1st and every day in August to enjoy TCM's Summer Under the Stars! If you'd like to tweet along with TCM, check the daily posts so you can grab the day's hashtag (if you don't have it already) and for the entire month, TCM created the tags #TCMSummer and #SUTS so you can live tweet throughout the promotion. I am too excited, what about you??
