TNT Preview: Victor/Victoria and My Sister Eileen

I'm pretty sure you're getting tired of me and these Double Features by now. #sorrynotsorry LOL It's not my fault that TCM chooses to show the really amazeballs movies on Thursday around TNT time. We won't be getting a Valentine's Day TNT like we did last year, but that's okay. This week's first selection is one of my all-time favorite movies and I had to include it. I'm talking about 1982's Victor/Victoria

Oh mylanta. If you haven't seen this movie, you haven't lived. This musical comedy stars the wonderful Julie Andrews as Victoria, a down on her luck soprano singer in 1934 Paris. Victoria soon meets and teams up with Toddy (played by Robert Preston, who really knocked the ball out of the park with this role), a recently dumped and down on his luck man, and the two decide to pass Victoria off as a drag queen. The ruse works and the two finally start to come up in the world. That is, until Victoria falls in love with a Chicago gangster (James Garner) who comes to Paris on vacation with his bodyguard (Alex Karras) and shrilly girlfriend (Lesley-Ann Warren, who was hilarious in this role). Hilarity ensues from beginning to end. I really can't say enough good things about this movie; the cast was stellar and fit their roles perfectly, the comedy was on point and risque without being overly perverse or lewd, and of course there's a happy ending for everyone. Here's the trailer:

Victor/Victoria comes on this Thursday at 5:30pm EST.

Directly afterward at 8pm is our actual TNT, 1942's comedy My Sister Eileen

Rosalind Russell and Janet Blair star in this film as sisters who move from their home state of Ohio to New York to pursue their dreams. While one sister has intelligence on her side, the other has beauty on hers. I haven't seen this movie so I don't want to read too much of the plot and end up spoiling the movie for myself, but I am guessing the rest of the movie is about the sisters trying to find themselves, learn to be closer to each other, and find love in the process. I've been kinda excited to see more of Rosalind Russell since The Women, so let's see how this movie is. Here's the trailer:

Again, this movie will be on at our regular TNT time of 8pm EST.
