TNT Preview: Mildred Pierce/Humoresque

This week's Double Feature continues with the airing of pairs a movie we haven't seen in our weekly lineup along with a flick that was featured back in August for Ann Blyth's day during SUTS. That movie, 1945's Mildred Pierce, is actually the first film in our Double Feature.
In case you weren't watching back in August, Mildred Pierce is about a woman (Crawford) who gives up everything to provide for her ungrateful daughter (Ann Blyth). The movie is based off of a 1941 novel by the same name and while there are some differences, the plot largely remains the same. Mildred's daughter has lofty aspirations and expects her mother to bring those to fruition for her, which Mildred fights to do, even at expense to herself. This film, Crawford's first after leaving her longtime studio MGM, won her an Academy Award. Here's a trailer:

Next is 1946's Humoresque.
In this movie, Joan stars alongside John Garfield as a wealthy yet mentally unstable woman whom Garfield's character, a down on his luck violinist, falls in love with. Naturally when love is involved in these flicks, Garfield's character gets sidetracked from following his musical aspirations. Here's a trailer:

Mildred Pierce, our actual TNT for this week, will be on TCM at 8pm EST, and Humoresque immediately afterward at 10pm EST.
