Daily Cinema: Old Acquaintance (1943)

Old Acquaintance stars Miriam Hopkins and Bette Davis as childhood friends who grow up together and are simultaneously friends and rivals, both in personal and professional settings. In a twist I wasn't expecting, it's Miriam Hopkins that plays the bitchier half of the friendship. I was expecting Bette Davis to have that half as she did it so well, so I'm interested to see her take on the more noble, passive half. We're on Previous TNT Alert today; The Story of Temple Drake is a dramatic pre-Code film and I loved it. If you watch Old Acquaintance this evening, use the tag #atvdailycinema to share your thoughts and use #suts or #summerunderthestars to talk to everyone else watching today's films. See you tomorrow!
