The remake of this film, which stars an ensemble cast of Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, comes out in theatres this Friday, so I thought it was pretty cool that TCM decided to play the original the evening before. The original film stars another ensemble cast that includes Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Robert Vaughn. The original, which is based off of the 1954 samurai film Seven Samurai, is about a group of gunslingers in the Old West who are hired to defend a village from being continually raided by a bandit. If you're going to see the remake of this film on Friday, I say watch the original first. I'm not really into westerns but I love big film casts like these.
