SUTS 2016 Wrap-Up Chat
Howdy! Can you believe SUTS is already over? It feels like August flew by but this time, I'm more sad than relieved to see it go. I've had more fun this year than I think I've had any of the years I covered SUTS (probably because I was smart about the prep this year, which gave me time to actually enjoy the festival) and even though I'm excited about Octoberfest coming up soon, I really love getting back to the roots of why I created this blog. TNT's are a smaller way of keeping the movie half of the site alive, but they are by far the most consistent type of post on the blog and can sometimes become a little monotonous, even for me. But SUTS always has a different feel to it for me and I miss that throughout the rest of the year. Not only is SUTS during August, but so is the blog's anniversary and it's always a treat to celebrate the anniversary doing what I initially created the blog to do--expose myself to more classic films and hopefully find others to partake in them with me. It's always my hope that more people will join me for the Daily Cinemas and TNT's over the years, but I'm just as happy now watching the films by myself. I keep the tags going because they're fun and if anyone were to join, there'd be a way for us to connect. Now I'm not going to lie and say I don't feel like a loser of epic proportions sometimes when I scroll back through the tag and see that I'm the only one using it, but like I said, it's my hope that eventually there'll be some engagement here.
It was kind of weird checking my post list and not seeing anything published at midnight today. There were quite a few good films throughout this year's list but there were quite a few Previous DC/TNT alerts too, right? I think in future SUTS promotions and as we watch more films, this will gradually start to increase. It's kind of crazy when I'm going through the month's schedule and seeing previous films we've watched; sometimes I forget what we've watched because there's been a film nearly every week for over 3 years now. The list is growing quite steadily between that and the Daily Cinema choices. When the site finally reboots I'll be able to include the Cinema choices in the overall list.
There were a few DC picks from this year's festival that I enjoyed; some of my favorites were Dinner at Eight from Day 7, All About Eve from Day 16 and Gold Diggers of 1933 from Day 19. Did you have any favorites this year? But anyway, I've rambled long enough. If you did participate in this year's SUTS with me, thank you. If you didn't, you missed out on some good films. And now with SUTS finished, it's time to turn our attention to Octoberfest next month. I've got some really fun posts planned for this year's installment of the series and I can't wait to show them to you. I hope you're having an awesome week and I'll see you soon!
