Daily Cinema Double Feature:
Home Before Dark (1958)
In Home Before Dark, Jean Simmons stars as a woman fresh out of a mental institution after suffering a nervous breakdown and her struggle to get her life back on track. An unhappy marriage and an emotionally unhealthy environment at home, the two primary reasons for her breakdown, threaten to send her back. She receives the support she needs, not from the person she would have expected to provide it, but receives it nonetheless and this gives her the strength she needs to make it through.
Angel Face (1953)
In this film noir, Jean Simmons stars as a duplicitous and potentially murderous young woman who plots to murder her relatives in order to get her hands on the family inheritance. In order to get away with it though, she finds a would-be suitor with the intention of making him the fall guy. Rather than the pirate's booty being insurance money a la Double Indemnity, this time it's the family inheritance. This film airs in early afternoon, so it's another DVR day for both films. Both of these films sounded really good to me and I couldn't choose but I'll leave this as an optional Double Feature for you. I hope you enjoy and I'll see you tomorrow!
