Daily Cinema Double Feature:
Jessica (1961) / Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971)
Jessica tells the story of how a local town responds to their new midwife. The reason for the frenzy is because the midwife is a beautiful young woman named Jessica, who makes the women in the town feel uncomfortable. Because their husbands gape and gawk at her, the women are put off by her presence and make a pact to stop having sex with their husbands. If the women refuse their husbands sex, it removes the possibility of having children, which eliminates the need for Jessica's services as a midwife. This sounds so bitter and petty, and I love it. This airs in the afternoon so hopefully you'll be able to watch.
Pretty Maids All in a Row is a dark suspense comedy about a young man trying to experience his own sexual revolution. The problem with this 'revolution' and the women around him is that the female students end up falling prey to a serial killer. Rock Hudson stars in this film as a horny high school coach who doesn't mind wetting his whistle with female students, which is a problem for all the obvious reasons. One of the students who becomes hip to the coach's off-field ways tries to direct him towards a beautiful teacher at the school, played by Angie Dickinson. But who's killing all these girls? This film's on super late so if I had to recommend a film, I'd go with Jessica because it airs earlier, but I really want to see this one. I'll leave that up to you. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and I'll see you tomorrow!
