The Taking of Pelham One Two Three stars Walter Matthau as Lieutenant Zachary Garber, a member of the NYPD who finds himself in an intense situation during what should be a routine tour of the city's subway command center. Four men, who go by the names of Mr. Gray, Mr. Green, Mr. Blue and Mr. Brown (Hector Elizondo, Martin Balsam, Robert Shaw and Earl Hindman, respectively) set up an elaborate plan to board and take control of a subway car and its passengers, then demand ransom in exchange for their lives. Lieutenant Garber and Lieutenant Patrone (Jerry Stiller) have to figure out the criminals' plan in the hour-long window that the criminals provide before they start killing passengers. The title of this film might be familiar to you; a remake of this was released in 2009 and starred Denzel Washington and John Travolta. Both this week's film and the 2009 remake are based off of a 1973 novel of the same name. Here's a trailer:
