I chose Shanghai Express for today's #atvdailycinema, which is a romance about a woman who boards a train in an attempt to outrun her past but ends up re-kindling an old romance in the process. Dietrich co-stars with Anna May Wong, Clive Brook and Warner Oland in this film. Night Plane from Chungking and Peking Express are both cited as being remakes of this film. I've seen none of the above, but I figure I should start off with the original. I also chose this because it was listed as a Pre-Code film, and I haven't seen too many of those. I've seen movies made during the time period, but none of them were sexual or bawdy in nature. I haven't seen too many risque films of that time and I don't know if this is considered to be one of them, but I'm interested to see it anyway. Happy viewing!
