SUTS Day 1: Gene Tierney

This year's SUTS starts out with Gene Tierney, whose movies I haven't had the pleasure of seeing too often over the years.

I chose the 1944 suspense Laura for today's Daily Cinema, but it was a really hard decision to make because most of these movies sounded intriguing. Laura is about the title character's murder, and the detective who falls in love with her while investigating it. TCM rated the film highly, and I love the premise. If Laura isn't up your alley, check out the 1949 crime film Whirlpool, which comes on right before. Whirlpool sounds like a great movie; in it a young kleptomaniac falls into the clutches of a manipulative hypnotist (isn't that kind of an oxymoron? lol), who lures her to commit various crimes while under his spell. Seems like a pretty strong start to this year's SUTS. If you're going to be on Twitter for any of this, tag your movie-related tweets with #atvsuts so I can see them. Happy viewing!
