Summer Under the Stars 2015 Preview
'Ello! One of my favorite times of year is back upon us again, and per usual I'm going to cover it all. In case you're new to TCM's annual tradition, Summer Under the Stars is a month-long celebration of some of yesterday's greatest stars and their bodies of work. Each day, a different actor/actress is featured, and for 24 hours nothing but a variety of their movies will be played. The lineup changes every year and there's usually a few movies receiving their very first airing sprinkled throughout the month, so for classic movie buffs like myself this tends to be a really exciting time.
But that's TCM's deal. What's it have to do with me and ATV?
*ramble alert* If you're not new here, go on and skip ahead to the lineup. Otherwise, *ramble alert*
When I first created this blog (5 years ago next month, right in the middle of SUTS!), it was originally called Classic Reviews for Classic Movies, because I really wanted to share my love of classic movies and find others who loved them as much as I did. I also wanted to review things, so at the time I felt that reviewing classic films was a healthy mix of both things. I had two blogs back then as well, but at the time the other was a soap opera blog that was starting to lose its footing with the death of soaps. I fell into a slump with both blogs and realized that while I liked the themes I had chosen for them, they either weren't gelling anymore, or weren't gelling at all. I changed the other site to what it is now, a review blog, and after a very long hiatus from Classic Reviews (during which I completely revised and overhauled the idea I had for the blog), I came back in January 2013 with All Things Vintage.
I really wanted to do something to keep the original concept of the blog alive, so when I found out a couple of years ago that TCM did a classic film showcase every August, I jumped on it. Each June I wait with baited breath for a sneak peek at who will be featured in the lineup and what movies will be shown. Either immediately before or after the list is made public, I then release a preview here in case you don't know where to find it (sometimes TCM's forums get the sneak peek before the site publishes the list). Then it's full-on frenzy mode for the entire month of August because I also make a daily post on the featured star, complete with a Featured Flick, which is sort of like a mini-TNT. If I remember correctly, I usually keep to our regular TNT schedule throughout SUTS but this year I'm going to 86 it. I love my classic movies, but I've come to realize that sometimes it's a bit too much to have a Featured Flick as well as a TNT in the same day. But SUTS is a very busy time for ATV, because for me it is a celebration of both classic films and the blog's origins.
*back to your regularly scheduled posting*
Anywho, I got all 4 of my eager eyeballs on the sneak peek list when someone posted it to TCM's forums at the end of May. With the promotion due to start in a couple of weeks, I'm quite sure there won't be any last minute changes in the lineup so I can get started with all the prep work now. Well, without further ado, here is the lineup for this year's Summer Under the Stars!

As I mentioned in my ramble above, SUTS is always a really fun time of year for me and a super busy time for the blog. I get to take things back to the initial focus of this site, I get to partake in a much bigger thing than just our little TNT's, and most importantly I get to share the experience with a bunch of other people as excited about it as I am. I hope you'll be sharing it with me as well! What'd you think of the list? There are some additions to the list that promise a plethora of movies I haven't seen before, but there are also a few SUTS regulars whose movies I've already seen (but wouldn't mind seeing again). But anyway, that does it for me for now. I hope you have a great weekend and I'll catch you back here soon!
