Hi! How was your weekend? For our first post-SUTS TNT, we'll be watching the 1941 comedy The Lady Eve.

I guess TCM picked up on my heartbreak at SUTS ending on Wednesday, so to apologize they gave me my spirit animal for our first TNT after the festival. Barbara Stanwyck stars in this comedy as a con artist named Jean who meets wealthy heir--and her future mark--Charles (Henry Fonda) on an ocean liner. Her father and his partner join her in trying to fleece Charles, but Jean ends up falling for him instead and abandons her plans. Charles' valet, however, doesn't trust Jean and exposes her, forcing Jean to take drastic measures to get Charles back. Here's the trailer:
The Lady Eve will air this Thursday at our regular TNT time of 8pm. If you'd like to stream the film online, here's where you can rent it:
There is a copy of the full movie floating around somewhere for free, but I didn't contact the owner of that copy to see if it would be okay for me to include a link. You can definitely find it if you do a little searching.
But anyway, I do kind of like the way that this worked out; we went right from SUTS into our September TNTs. I might have missed them a little. And I do mean a little; we've had 31 film features. There definitely hasn't been a shortage of films to watch lately. With that being said, I guess I'll accept TCM's apology; I get a Barbara Stanwyck film out of the deal so I guess I'll forgive them for not making the festival longer. Hope you'll be joining me on Thursday and I'll see you tomorrow for the next SUTS lineup!
