TNT Preview: The Big Sleep

The first TNT of August also falls on the first day of TCM's Summer Under the Stars, so for each TNT this month we get an added bonus of a Daily Cinema! The first star to take their bow under TCM's Summer Under the Stars spotlight is Humphrey Bogart, which brings me to this week's TNT, 1946's The Big Sleep, starring Bogie alongside Lauren Bacall and John Ridgely.

This suspense is a film adaptation based on a book written by Raymond Chandler and is also a member of the National Film Registry. It stars Bogie as Detective Philip Marlowe, who investigates a society girl's involvement in the murder of a pornographer. I'm really excited to see this film for so many reasons, so I do not want to read more on the synopsis. If you're a Bogart & Bacall groupie like I am then I'm sure you found out sooner than I that this was not their first film together. It's been said that watching these two together was a great experience, and I can't wait to see what people were referring to. Check out the trailer:
Watch it with me this Thursday at 8pm EST on TCM!
