Shops on Instagram, p. 5

Hi! I originally had plans to go out and try to enjoy this last official weekend of the summer, but rain derailed everything so I swiped most of the day away on Instagram instead. LOL I hope the weather in your neck of the woods is better than mine and you get to enjoy what's left of the weekend. Anyway, I wanted to change things up a little for this installment of the Instagram posts. Since I started this series earlier this year, I've only been showing off clothing shops but over the past few weeks, I've been seeing more and more furniture shop accounts popping up all over the place. They're not new to Instagram, they're just new to me. lol Continued IG noobery aside though, I thought it would be a change of pace to feature some of them for once. Most of these aren't online retailers and the IG feed is only meant to display their in-store goods, but I still thought it would be fun to show off some shops I'd found that focused on home decor and furniture rather than fashion.

1. The Modern Vault (@themodernvault)

Ultra rare Peter Hvidt model 523 teak and brass segmented pinwheel coffee table in store and on #1stdibs now. One of only two in the world available for sale. Recently featured on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow. So many possibilities, see our website for more photos and details. #rare #peterhvidt #model523 #pinwheel #coffeetable #danish #danishmodern #pbs #antiquesroadshow #decor #eamesera #eichlerhome #furniture #furnitureporn #homedecor #homefurnishings #interiordesign #midcentury #midcenturydesign #midcenturymodern #midcenturyfurniture #newportbeach #original #rare #shopsmall #themodernvault #vintage by @themodernvault

I just found The Modern Vault, but the minute I saw this table I stopped searching the feed and put this one up. I'd love this table anyway simply based on the pinwheel shape even if the option to separate the pieces wasn't available, but I love it that much more because it does detach. I also love the varying directions of the wood on the table; it reinforces the pinwheel shape and provides some variety. I'd love to have this in my home.

2. Mid Mod Men (@midmodmen)

Waking up with rosewood and leather: loveseat and 2 matching armchairs in the store now at #MidModMen 2401 University Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55114 #rosewood #danishmodern #danishstyle #danishdesign #moderndecor #interiordesign #modernstyle #scandinavianmodern #stpaul #saintpaul #minneapolis #minnesota by @midmodmen

This is a small living room set that I think would be good for either a small apartment or an office and I really like the simple design and colors. I also like that the cushions are in such good shape; many of the older sofas and cushions I come across have either been made too thin or are that way now due to wear and tear. Not too much to say about it; it's in good shape, I like the design, I'd like to have it. lol Mid Mod Men is a shop I found shortly after the fourth entry on this week's list; I believe they, like many of the shops on here, specialize in mid-century goods. No complaints from me.

I tell ya, if I had a backyard suitable for this fireplace and some dough in my pocket, I'd have snatched this right up. The fireplace itself reminds me of a mouth lol, and even though I love--and usually prefer--brick fireplaces, I have also come to really like the ones that aren't, like this one. I'm not sure if this is a '50s or '60s era fireplace as the description has both decades tagged, but I like it regardless so I don't care. I don't know if you can take the screen off and just have an open fire, but it'd be good for roasting marshmallows on a chilly autumn night if you could.

4. Father and Son (@fatherandsonraleigh)

Check out this Lafer sofa! #modern #vintage #midcentury #danishmodern #lafer by @fatherandsonraleigh

This is the first furniture shop I found on IG and by far one of my absolute favorites. I had the worst time picking the photo I wanted to use because there are so many items I love (I was really stuck between this living room set, this egg chair, and this wave lounge chair) but I wanted something that I felt properly profiled the awesome stuff for sale. I finally went with this Lafer sofa that was sold a few months ago because I'd never seen anything like it before. It makes me think a bit of inflatable furniture, and the Lafer chair that was also sold (which was what tipped me off to this sofa) reminded me of a sturdier beanbag chair. I don't know if this is something that I'd have in my living room, but I was intrigued by it. It was actually going through the Father and Son feed that helped to teach me more about mid-century furniture and gave me names to look up so it's one of my favorites for a few reasons.

5. Luna Modern (@luna_modern)

Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera associated with Charles and Ray Eames #polaroid #sx70 #polaroidsx70 #polaroidlandcamera #edwinland #eames #charlesandrayeames #charleseames #rayeames #mod #midcentury #midcenturymodern #designporn #shoplocalraleigh by @luna_modern

I believe I've mentioned before that I really like old photography equipment. I've been interested in how photography has changed throughout the years, but I only recently started to learn about the different equipment. One of my all-time favorites has always been the Polaroid. I was able to pick up a late '80s model a few years ago for $1. I appreciate the insta-share concept, but I also appreciate the old-school definition of being able to instantly share a photo that you take. I miss physical photos, and that brings me to this Polaroid SX-70. The one I have is much simpler than this one, but I really like it nonetheless.

6.  Modern Redemption (@modernredemption)

32 bulb chrome chandelier, possibly Lightolier. #interiordesign #orlando #midcentury #midcenturydecor #midcenturymodern #midcenturydesign #chandelier #lightolier #lightolierchandelier #sciolari #modern #modernism #moderndecor #mod #modernlighting #retro #vintageshop #vintage by @modernredemption

Modern Redemption is another shop that I found recently--and when I say recently I mean as in the past 48 hours--and so far, it's another feed that I'm in love with. This 32-bulb chandelier is what pulled my attention first because it was so unique to me. I usually like the classic chandeliers that are made of crystals and glass, but this one has a more....industrial? look to it. I believe these bulbs are all chrome, not halogen, so I wonder how much replacing all of these would cost. lol

7. Antiques Vintage (@rareantiquesyqz

Auction ends tomorrow night! Antique Edward Miller & Co Nouveau Slag Glass Lamp Arts & Crafts c 1910 Gorgeous!! Scenic Lakeside Scene in this auction, we have a gorgeous, antique Art Nouveau slag glass lamp made by the Miller Lamp Co. from the Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts period. The metal overlay on the shade is a chinoiserie styel from the early 1900s. We dated this lamp based on information from two different auction houses who said this was circa 1905-1920. You can see on the bottom that it is marked ML Co 234. The base and stem is made of cast iron metal with a heavy cast iron that is beautifully formed. The slag glass panels transforms from a light blue color to white representing the lake and sky. Finished with a cast iron finial. This beautiful lamp does work! If you're interested in owning this, look at the link in our profile; it leads to our items currently up for auction (including this). You could bid on this, and win it too! Happy bidding! #antiques #antique #vintage #love #instagram #picoftheday #photooftheday #bestoftheday #amazing #lovegram #lamp #LAMP #LAAMP #LAAAMP #beautiful #awesome #cool #neat #edwardmiller #miller #nouveau #artnouveau #art #artsandcrafts #slag #slagglass #glass #yeah by @rareantiquesyqz

This lamp shade is everything. I've never seen anything like this before, which is why I put it up here. One thing I really like about this shop is that it's full of items that are new to me, and on a larger note that's one reason why I love doing posts like these so much, even if it does seem to get repetitive. The description is very thorough and I love that it's in such great condition for something with this many small details. I need it--or something like it--in my life.

8. Vintage Key Antiques (@vintagekey)

Custom Order in its new home (Queen Four Post Bed and Nightstands)👍🏻 Thank you, Mr. H ❤️ Vintagekeyantiques.com 🔑 #vintage #vintagekey #vintagekeyantiques #lacquer #loveblack #highgloss #huge #cool #painteddresser #paintedfurniture #furnituremakeover #furniture #dresser #queen #homedecor #love #glam #hollywood #lasvegas #vegas by @vintagekey

What drew me to this shop were the finishes on all of the furniture. I went to their website and in addition to reselling vintage furniture, they also refinish furniture, both for custom orders and with the stock they already have. I thought this bedroom set was so stunning, from the individual pieces in the set, to the color scheme in the room, to the finish on the wood, that I had to put it up here. I think it's a very good representative of the company's work and I have a deep-cutting jealousy for whoever requested and bought this set.

9. Select Mid-Century Modern (@selectmidcenturymodern)

I know this table seems overly simple to some, but I'm in love with the marble on the tabletop and how it looks with the structure of the wooden part of this table. This is another piece that would look good in an office, maybe even paired with the loveseat and armchairs that I featured from Mid Mod Men up above. I wouldn't use it as a living room coffee table or anything because it's set a bit too low for me, but it'd be a good addition to an office.

10. Antique of France (@antique_of_france)

#антиквариат #антикварная #antique #antiques by @antique_of_france

The details in antique pieces never fail to blow me away, especially when I am able to find out the age of the piece. I guess I still expect older pieces not to be in the condition they're in when they go up for auction; some have been so well-preserved they hardly look used, while others, like this one, have that perfect aged look to them. Antique of France is a company that specializes in the sale of rare antiques to wholesalers so unfortunately, these items aren't available to the general consumer. Considering the condition and age of some of these pieces, however, the prices are probably sky-high, so I get it. Potential price aside, this is a beaut.

I've noticed that many of the furniture shop feeds on Instagram specialize in mid-century furniture so I was afraid that I'd end up displaying a lot of similar pieces of furniture. There are so many more furniture shops, some with different kinds of specialties, on Instagram and I think I may do another post like this sometime in the near future. I hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you soon!
