I'm sorry readers! I have not skipped out on doing a TNT Preview since I started it this year and I am really sorry that I did not get to this week's in time. I had started on the post, but I had not gotten the chance to finish it. I barely remembered that the day was even Thursday until about 15 minutes before one of the movies had started ( I had previewed two flicks for this week) and had just enough time to set the DVR. Just to update you on the note I posted a couple of weeks ago, my mom's surgery was initially scheduled for a couple of weeks ago but during the pre-registration the day before the surgery, the tests showed that her blood levels were too thin and this posed a risk for her surgery, so it was delayed by a week. This week, however, she was cleared so she had surgery on Wednesday. I've been taking care of the house and three of my four younger siblings since then between trips to and from the hospital. I've been sleeping on average maybe 2-4 hours a night; I'm usually too anxious to sleep late at night after the kids are in bed. So the nights are rough, I'm not really sleeping, and I've had homework all week so I didn't have much time or energy for anything else if I wasn't occupied with one of the things I mentioned. Friday I ended my current block of classes and was busy with finishing my assignments the majority of the day and I've been busy most of today as well, which is why I did not get around to writing this post until now.
In addition to all that going down on the homefront, a few days after posting my initial note Cookie went belly up on me and I had to transition to the desktop full-time, but it runs ridiculously slow due to low RAM so a lot of times pages don't fully load, if they load at all, and if I've been using it for awhile pages can take up to 5 minutes to load--then they're not properly loaded when they finally do. This makes it hard for me to grab posters and trailers, so TNT posts are going to be a challenge unless I do them weeks in advance on the occasions that the computer and my "ever so reliable" Internet (sarcasm) cooperate with me. I have a Droid and downloaded the Blogger app awhile ago but I can only do so much from it, so I can't link in photos that aren't already on my phone and the same goes for videos, which is why my draft posting of this week's TNT is still only in text form. I wrote the post on my phone but I couldn't look at the trailers or get the posters so I had to leave it as is and try to come back to it on the desktop later, but as you can clearly see the 'later' didn't arrive in time. Between the excruciatingly slow load time, dropped pages and connections and homework in addition to everything else that was going on around the time I make my TNT posts, it just wasn't going to happen.
Both the computer and the Internet seem to be at least 50% tonight, so I'm going to hop to checking out the TNT picks for next month and get my posts prepped. Vintage Spotlight is more extensive, so it's going to have to hold on for just a little while longer but I'm doing a double-header to make up for it so hopefully they'll have been worth your wait when I can get them finished and posted. We're a little more than halfway throughout the year, readers! (Sorry for the completely uncreative name; I haven't thought of a good one for you all yet lol) I'm really excited for August's TNT because that is when TCM has the daily spotlight on various stars and shows some of their different movies, some of which are hardly ever aired. I think that August is a really good time for a beginner classic film buff to learn more about vintage time periods and get exposure to some great films. TCM never disappoints me; some years they'll feature the more prominent and recognized film stars and other years they'll throw in some underdogs or lesser-known stars and you'll stumble across some gems. So August is always my favorite time of the year when it comes to classic films; it isn't often that movies are repeated within a short time span on the channel so it can be months before you see a certain movie again and I like that. However, it can be a little stinky when you really want to see it so you always hope that at least one of the film's stars will be featured in August so you can possibly catch the movie again. In short, I'm pretty excited to see what this August has to offer.
However, it's not August. It's going to be July.....so fangirling aside, June was a pretty diverse month for our TNT I think. I'm just about done with the TNT in Review and the movies we got to watch were very different from the other. That's the kind of monthly TNT I enjoy; a lot of variety in both genre and stars. I'll be getting to that ASAP since I already put up the links for the movies on the page and just need to finish typing my movie notes. Give me a few days for my personal life to subside a little and for some normalcy to return, and when I find a better backup until I can fix Cookie (I'm already on the hunt) I will be back to posting as normal. Until then, I hope you are having a lovely summer weekend, and again...
