TNT Preview: The Story of Temple Drake

Hi! Did you watch the Oscars last night? Leo is the Susan Lucci of the Oscars no more! lol Anywho, this week we're watching the 1933 pre-Code drama The Story of Temple Drake

Source

This controversial film stars Miriam Hopkins as the titular character, a wild Southern society girl who gets mixed up with gangs and murder. Jack LaRue co-stars as Trigger, the man responsible for the ruining of Temple's life by forcing her into prostitution after their lives cross. William Gargan rounds out the main cast as Stephen Benbow, Temple's lawyer friend who carries an unrequited torch for her. This movie, based off of the 1931 novel Sanctuary by William Faulkner, is one of the reasons why the Motion Picture Production Code (the Hays Code as its commonly known) was created and after a long time in the film vaults, it was restored by the Museum of Modern Art.

As is custom with pre-Code movies, there isn't a trailer for the film or anywhere to watch it online. So if you're interested, you'll have to catch it with me this Thursday when it airs at our regular TNT time of 8PM EST. See you soon!
