The film stars Gene Kelly as an aspiring painter in Paris alongside his pianist friend during the 'starving artists' period in France. His affections inadvertently become split between a wealthy woman who expresses interest in him (Nina Foch) and another woman who he finds himself interested in, who dismisses his attentions at first (Leslie Caron). This film was inspired by Gershwin's 1928 musical composition and co-stars Oscar Levant and Georges Guetary. Here's the trailer:
